The Internet Era has provide the tools to share freely knowledge with the global community. The consequence is a changing consumption patterns: the trend is to buy less and make more stuff ourselves. Apps like Instructables contribute to that DIY movement. It provides a handy platform to discover how-tos by other users and also allows to upload our step-by-step makeable stuff.
It is actually as easy as it sounds. Just download the app and start discovering over 100K tutorials in technology, workshop, living, cooking, clothing (and many more) uploaded by individuals, like you and me. You can apply filters (categories, featured and recent) or just navigate through "explore" tab where tutorials are displayed randomly on a scrollable list. If you tap any of them, you'll get to the instructions, commonly including a description, screenshots and videos. You can share tutorials, comment and love them (if you have an account) and vote for it to hit the tops.
In addition, you can create your own tutorials from the app: add description, pics and videos and make it public. Likewise, you can follow users and be followed too, customize your profile and bookmark tutorials for a faster access. Finally, you can "enroll" your tutorials in issue-related contests and win prizes. Instructable users are the Jury, you included.
The app is set in an user-friendly interface, Holo-style layout, that allows a quick navigation through its left-side menu and the top bar with tabs to the main actions. I'm just missing push notifications when a new how-to is posted in your favorite categories and homescreen widgets. Anyway, a recommended app. Power to the crowd!
